Power BI November 2024 Feature Summary

Welcome to the November 2024 update. We’re thrilled to introduce Copilot in Power BI Mobile apps, bringing AI to your fingertips for a smarter, faster way to explore data on the go. This month’s update also includes a new Path layer for the Azure Map visual, making geospatial analysis even more powerful by helping you easily map connections between multiple locations. We’re also introducing the OneLake catalog, the latest evolution of the OneLake data hub, offers a unified platform for data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and decision-makers to browse, manage, and govern data seamlessly—all from one intuitive interface.

Announcing Power BI Embedded Generation 2 (preview)

We are thrilled to announce that the second generation of Power BI Embedded, referred to as Embedded Gen 2, is available for its Azure subscribers to use during the preview period. All of the Power BI Embedded Gen 1 capabilities such as pausing and resuming the capacity, are preserved in Gen 2 and the price per SKU remains the same, however the Gen 2 capacity resource provides substantial improvements in performance, scale and much more.

Attendees will learn how to define the capabilities and data mappings for a custom visual and how to program D3-style data binding using categorical data from a Power BI dataset. The session also demonstrates how to extend a visual with custom properties and how to package a custom visual as a PBIVIZ file.
